Meet the Team: Paula

This is our meet the team series! We’re excited for you to get to know us and learn why we do what we do.

Introducing: Our Director of Operations

Paula Camacho

Hi, my name is Paula and I am the Director of Operations for Hearing the Little Heart Beats. I am currently in my last year of Biology at King’s University and my dream is to become a dentist. I am a proud Colombian who moved to Canada six years ago searching for a better future.

Since I was three years old, I have loved helping others around me be happy and smile. This was my way of bringing joy and laughter to those who needed it and this passion of mine has grown into my desire to become a dentist. It has been a long journey and I am working very hard to accomplish my dreams. Even though it seems as if the road ahead is still very long, I know that God has incredible plans and I am confident that there is a reason God brought this opportunity of HLH my way.

As a Latin-American, I have seen and experienced the indifference that can be prevalent in our current health care systems, I am aware that when you live in a country full of inequalities it can be extremely hard for people to help one another. I have also come to realize that small acts of kindness can lead to unimaginable changes.

Throughout the years, it has become clear to me that my pursuit and love of dentistry will allow me to help and give back to those who have become victims of broken health care systems.

Through HLH, I hope to bring global awareness to the necessity of helping the Guatemalan community ensure everyone has equal access to a functional medical system. I believe that knowledge of the language, my experience, and my passion for helping others will be fundamental in our journey. I hope to inspire others to stand up and take part in this beautiful project.

Together we can make an impact on the health of the nations and the generations to come.

” …be the change you want to see in the world.”
