On January 18th, at 11 am, the very first post of the HLH blog went live! The HLH blog is intended to provide information on the health system in Guatemala, as well as our work there. The blog has allowed us to introduce our audience to each member of the organization and to highlight the roles that we all play. The blog has also severed as a medium to keep you guys up to date on various events, breakthroughs, and to learn the why behind what we do.

Through this blog we have been able to present thought provoking pieces on international health initiatives, volunteerism, and the importance of effective outreach. The HLH blog has played a huge role in our effort to empower and equip our generation and those who want to make a difference.

Besides its stunning new look, our new site makes it easier to get involved, request information, keep in contact, and donate. The website will take you directly to the HLH blog and features our online store where you can buy our official HLH merchandise. The re-branding of the HLH website symbolized our growth and the new pathways we are undertaking in order to fight the ongoing drug shortage in Guatemala. The site has allowed us connect to various regions of our world and is viewed by many globally!

Launch of Little Beats Shop and HLH Merchandise

On June 19th, we released our first set of merchandise on the store section of the HLH website. The “Little Latidos” shirts (meaning little beats) were a huge step for our mission to help the medical and healthcare crisis in Guatemala. The shirts while stylish and simple, allow us and our supporters to stand up and represent a great cause. 100% of the merchandise sales go towards our mission to deliver vitamins, medications, and other medical supplies to Guatemala. We are looking forward to launching more merchandise in the future and to finding creative ways to allow our audience to show their support for the organization.

The First Annual Little Beats Tournament: Soccer Match For Meds

On July 28th, we had our first annual soccer tournament fundraiser and it was a blast! The day was filled with fun, fierce competition, and scrumptious food. In partnership with the Brooks City Council, we were able to hold the tournament at the Duke of Sutherland Park.

Over 40 soccer players, young and old, participated in the tournament and many came out to watch. With their eyes set on the grand prize of $150, teams battled against one another and showed off their incredible skills. The champion team (the Latinos team) donated their grand prize to HLH as part of the effort to fight the ongoing drug shortage in Guatemala, their generosity made the day even more amazing.

Various members of the community donated their time, resources, and money towards this fundraiser and their support is what made the tournament so successful! This event allowed us to connect with sponsors, make new connections with members of the Brooks community, and show the city why we do what we do at Hearing the Little Heartbeats.

25,000 Children’s Vitamins Were Sent to Guatemala

In August, we were able to purchase a package of 25,000 children’s vitamins for Impact Ministries in Guatemala. The vitamins were supplies by Blessings International and shipped by Vine International.

This shipment can provide a vitamin a day for 3 classrooms for an entire school year!

We have now reached a new total of 50,000 multivitamins donated by us to Impact Ministries. The generous donations from sponsors, supporters, and our communities helped us mark this milestone. Our team will continue to work hard in 2020 to ship more vitamins to Guatemala as well as essential medications and medical supplies.

Thank you to everyone who supported us this year and to those who have been on this journey with us since the beginning. No words can describe our gratitude for your prayers, generous donations, and words of encouragement over our organization. 2019 was a great year and we are pumped to make 2020 an even greater year for HLH!

Together we can make an impact on the health of the nations and the generations to come.
